:resonanzen-neanderland nimmt sie mit auf eine Reise. Von den Ursprüngen des Neandertals, über die Kalkbergwerke Wülfraths und die Komposieranlage Ratingens bis hin zu den plätschernden, fließenden Klängen des Vaters Rhein bei Monheim.
Was wir hier hören. ist uns zugleich vertraut und rätselhaft. Und- wie Geräusche, die durch ein offenes Fenster dringen - können sie Beobachtung finden oder ignoriert werden.Sie können als Atmosphäre im Hintergrund tönen - oder die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich ziehen und unser ästhetisches, analytisches und imaginatives Auffassungsvermögen in Gang setzen.
Als ich gebeten wurde, diese Klangtopographie anzufertigen, wollte ich auch die Aspekte des Zfälligen, Situativen, des Unmittelbaren bewahren.
Daher hören sie meine akustischen Beobachtungen als kompilierte, aber in ihrer Zeitstruktur und Inhalt unmanipulierte Klangereignisse, die in der Komposittion jeweils ein subjektives Klangbild eines Ortes abbilden.

Auf der Suche nach ortsspezifischen Klangphänomenen entwickelte sich ein Verständnis für die vorhandenen Klangparallelen. Im Hören durch die Frequenzlandschaftenentdecken und verfolgen wir vorgefundene akustische Linien. Diese akustischen Linien durchziehen, wie Verbindungsadern - die von Menschen gestalteten Lebens- und Naturräume. Sie sind allen Klanglandschaften gemeinsam und doch immer neu zu reflektieren.

Nehmen wir uns die Zeit, diese uns umgebenden Klangfelder zu entdecken.

Gedankt sei für ihre Vertrauen und ihre Unterstützung Herrn Thelen und Frau Hering, wie auch vielen lokalen Helfern, den Küstern und den ortsansässisgen Industriepartnern für ihr Entgegenkommen und die lokalen Aufnahmegenehmigungen. Besonderer Dank ergeht an Axel Otto, ohne dessen inhaltliche Vorbereitungen dieses Projekt nicht möglich gewesen wäre.

Für das Projekt wurden im Zeitraum Februar bis April 2007 in den 10 Partnerstädten des Kreises Mettmann insgesamt mehr als 14 Stunden Audiomaterial aufgezeichnet.

// resonanzen-neanderland takes you on a journey. From the origins of the Neandertal, to the lime mines of Wülfrath and the composting plant of Ratingen, to the rippling, flowing sounds of the Father Rhine near Monheim.
What we hear here is both familiar and mysterious. And - like sounds coming through an open window - they can be observed or ignored, they can linger in the background as an atmosphere - or they can attract attention and trigger our aesthetic, analytical and imaginative perceptions.
When I was asked to create this sound topography, I also wanted to preserve the aspects of the incidental, the situational, the immediate.
Therefore, you will hear my acoustic observations as compiled sound events, but unmanipulated in their temporal structure and content, each of which depicts a subjective sound image of a place in the composition.

In the search for site-specific sound phenomena, an understanding of the existing sound parallels developed. Listening through the frequency landscapes, we discover and follow found acoustic lines. These acoustic lines, like connecting arteries, run through the living and natural spaces created by humans. They are common to all soundscapes and yet always need to be reflected upon anew.

Let us take the time to discover these sound fields that surround us.

I would like to thank Mr. Thelen and Mrs. Hering for their trust and support, as well as many local helpers, the sextons and the local industrial partners for their cooperation and local recording permits. Special thanks go to Axel Otto, without whose preparations this project would not have been possible.

A total of more than 14 hours of audio material was recorded for the project in the 10 partner cities of the Mettmann district between February and April 2007.
